Mike Massimino served as an astronaut for NASA between 1996 and 2014, going on two missions to service the Hubble telescope, spending more than 30 hours on spacewalks, and being the first astronaut to tweet from space.  Mike has appeared as himself on the hugely popular sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, and is now a professor at the University of Columbia. His upcoming book, Spaceman, is his extraordinary and inspirational story, revealing the hard work, camaraderie and sheer guts involved in the life of an astronaut

Mike will be appearing at the Croston Theatre, Westholme to regale audiences with his stories and experiences as an astronaut.  The cost of the ticket includes a copy of Mike’s hardback book which he will be happy to sign on the night.

Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to meet one of the heroes of out of space.

“The thing I remember most about space is the view from the spacewalk. When I was inside the space shuttle and looking through the window, you can see the earth and the stars, and it’s very beautiful, but it’s like looking at an aquarium, sort of. When you go outside and spacewalk, you become a scuba diver.”
